Adventure Teen Travel is looking for highly motivated role
models to guide youth in adventure environments in Western
Canada. If you are interested in sharing your enthusiasm
for the outdoors and wish to spend the summer working with
teenagers, we would like to hear from you.
On our Western Canada trips, each of our adventure groups
is an autonomous group of up to twelve teenagers and two
Leaders, including one Lead Guide and one
Assistant Trip Leader. Your responsibilities
include teaching low impact camping, food planning and preparation,
orienteering and emergency procedures, while also facilitating
positive group dynamics and encouraging the teenagers to
take initiative. Expert knowledge in all areas is not necessary
as we contract specialists to join your group when specific
activity skills are needed. However, you will oversee and
be responsible for participants at all times. This is a
twenty-four hour a day job.
Basic requirements: |

Minimum 21 years of age. |
 |
Valid class 4 drivers
license. Driving abstract must be available. |

Experience working in
related field. field (i.e. experience leading groups
in the outdoors/backcountry including food planning/preparation,
strong leadership and group management skills, especially
with teens, etc.) |

First Aid & CPR certifications:

Our Lead Guide must, at a minimum,
have Wilderness First Aid or equivalent and CPR
certifications.

A minimum of Standard First Aid and CPR certification
is required for the Assistant Trip Leader.

National Parks Certifications:
-
Many of our tours include several days of hiking
within the national parks (Banff, Jasper, Yoho)
and regulations require that a guide with an ACMG
Day Hiking certification and the MPHIA Standard
Level course lead these hikes.

ACMG is the Association of Canadian Mountain
Guides - you can find out more on their website

MPHIA is the Mountain Parks Heritage Interpretation
Association and their website is www.mphia.org
(their Standard Level is a new requirement of
Parks Canada for 2005 to complete this 2-day interpretive
course).
